Metallica's Down Fall!

I have never had real contempt for a rock album, but I have to say that I can't stand this CD. In the 8O's Metallica were the great American thrash-metal band. The first time I saw slamdancing/moshpit outside of a small club, and in an arena, was at a Metallica concert in 1989. There is N0 thrash or speed on this album. I'm all for groups musically progressing, but come on, this was Metallica! If they hadn't had 4 heavy albums in the 80's this probably would have been washed away with all the other metal that disapeared when the alterna-rock boom happened in the early 9O's. I had to give it 2 stars because "Enter Sandman" is a great song, and "Sad But True" isn't too bad, but the rest is B0RING. This is all pretty much mid-tempo metal, and the lyrics aren't anything catchy or inspiring. And what's up with "Don't Tread 0n Me"? The "Here We Go Patriotism!" lyrics are like something a redneck country singer would have written, not the longhaired, anti-establishment, rebelious Metallica?! So yeah, it was the begining of the end for these guys right here. I don't often cast "sellout" stones, but in 1991 Metallica deserved it and have kept deserving it since. Buy the first 4 Metallica albums from the 8O's and stop there.

Metallica's dark side of the moon!

Well just as pink floyd had "dark side of the moon" and it was an album that defined pink floyd and set a whole new atmosphere for them so did METALLICA with the black album!

the best metallica album

aww...metallica the greatest metal band ever. you either love them or hate them. but you cant deny their talent. and cmon everyone loves enter sandman. it was one of the greatest songs of the 90s. it used to scare me as a kid but i always loved it. all the songs on this cd are real masterpieces. some of the best ones are enter sandman, nothing else matters, and the unforgiven. if you want to listen to some damn good music. then check this out.
