Zeppelin in their prime
Houses of the Holy is considered part of Led Zeppelin's latter years, but this album lacks the mysterious overtone that other latter year's albums like "Physical Graffiti" and "Presence" had. Here is an overview of the songs:
Favorite Zeppelin album
This is one Led Zeppelin's most diverse slabs of brilliance. I can listen to every song on this record, start to finish, any day of the week and not get a tad bored. The songs are thoughtful and well-crafted. Buy this immediately if you are a newbie.
Holy Zeppelin!
Houses of the Holy is not at all your typical Zep LP. Like IV before it and Physical Grafitti after it, Houses of the Holy covers a broad range of styles. However, while those two records certainly have weak moments, Houses of the Holy does so in fine style, with a single clunker (the bombastic Rain Song). But everything else works out quite fine.
