Audio CD Description

Mixing a variety of styles with a Celtic base, this was McKennitt's breakthrough album and remains one of her most musically interesting. "All Souls Night" begins the album, with dance-like rhythms and McKennitt's wonderful voice singing about the Celtic New Year. Other features include a musical setting of Tennyson's "Lady of Shalott", which, while not as sophisticated as Noyes' "The Highwayman" on

Comments From Our Customers

A rare gift

I am by no means an expert on Loreena McKennitt's works. I own just this album and her most popular album The Book of Secrets. Although The Book of Secrets made Ms. McKennitt popular because of the song The Mummer's Dance, which received air play on even some popular music stations, The Visit contains some wonderful songs.

"The Green Knight holds the holly bush"

I first heard Loreena McKennitt sing on a human interest newsclip on an evening news broadcast a number of years ago, and was stunned by her vocal range. I knew that I would come across her CD's right then, and I have. I bought "The visit" with the bonus DVD mainly for the fact that my favorite song, "Mummer's Dance" is one of the songs on the DVD, but also because the Visit is excellent.

A Georgous and Haunting CD.

Loreena McKennitt has the most hauting and most beautiful voices I have ever heard! ''The Lady of Shalott'' is my favorite song above all other Celtic songs I've listned to. First time I heard it, I was swept away to a different world and inspired to write more Medieval/Fantasy stories. Loreena McKennitt is a Miraculous singer and any song of hers deserves 5 out of 5 every time.
