Audio CD Description

They still had plenty of covers to fill out the running time, but the Lennon-McCartney writing team was gathering steam and beginning to knock out pop classics as if they were pulling them out of thin air. "All My Loving" and "I Wanna Be your Man" come from this record, issued hurriedly to capitalize on English Beatlemania. But even when they were laying into some classic Chuck Berry, by this time the Beatles had acquired a unique sound in the blend of John's and Paul's voices, while George was coming on by leaps and bounds as a guitar player. Mislabeled Album on your Beatles Webpage

This album is a classic. The name of it is NOT "With" The Beatles, but MEET the Beatles. You have the correct picture but not the correct name.

Wild and Worthy

"With the Beatles" is the British version of the American LP "Meet the Beatles," the first real album to "make it" on the Western shores. It is a remarkable album that contains all the energy of "Please, Please Me," yet the polish needed to create a classic listening experience. There are many great songs that even less casual Beatles' fans haven't encountered. The songs are often fresh, sometimes dated, but, subjectively, there isn't a bad one in the bunch. The remakes are as consistent overall as the originals.

Beatles - 'With The Beatles' (Capitol)

Review no.164.Originally released in 1963,looks to the the Fab Four's third effort.Great early fourteen track CD reissue.Still nice to give a spin at the right sort of gathering.Like a forty-plus age get-together,late night summer outing,a picnic, etc.Tunes that still do it for me are "I Won't Be Long",Chuck Berry's cover of "Roll Over Beethoven","Hold Me Tight",their trademark tune(sort to speak)"I Wanna Be Your Man" and "Money(That's All I Want)".Recommended.
