Audio CD Description

Pop has a good time eating itself on this collection of Doctor Demento favorites. The tunes on this stylistically varied double CD send up a plethora of pop culture phenomena. The perpetrators come from every imaginable entertainment background. Pro wrestlers, folk singers, comedians, actors, garage bands--you never know who's liable to produce a novelty song. Here it doesn't matter if a respected composer or a one-hit wonder recorded the ditty; all sorts of tracks jostle each other on this funny collection. The material covers quite a time span, ranging from Spike Jones's "Der Fuehrer's Face," released in 1942, to "Wappin'," an unreleased track by Darrell Hammond and Christopher Snell which was a hit on Demento's radio show at the tail end of the 1980s. Less than 5 cents per guffaw!

Twenty-five years ago, my mother would poke her head into my room late at night and order me to stop laughing, every Sunday. Fast forward to present, my girlfriend pokes her head into the living room asking when I'm coming to bed, and what am I laughing at! I thought I listened to every show, but I never heard "Guitarzan" before getting this album. What a hilarious spoof of Sgt. Pepper! Hearing this wide variety of talented musicians with twisted minds sure makes me wish I could play! Looking at the playlists, this looks like the best Dr. D compilation out there. If you are a fan, don't forget the Tom Lehrer box set.

Pretty funny! Brings back memories of listening to Dr. D on the radio.

I'm not a Trekkie but "Star Trekkin' Across the Universe" alone may be worth the price of the CD. A lot of classics in a very short space--more wheat than chaff!

Great funny songs

Once again the Doctor has gathered some of the funny songs that will make us laugh. Just try and frown when listening to this CD.
