Audio CD Description

One of the fundamental criticisms of New Age music is that it puts people to sleep. Here, Steven Halpern, one of the founding fathers of New Age, makes that his mission and, as you might expect, does an effective job of it. Drawing on catalog material from the early 1980s, Halpern builds an attractive collection of delicate, lighter-than-air sonic textures that nicely serves the intended purpose--to fill the silence with something prettier than white noise. Halpern does so by blending electric and acoustic piano, plus additional keyboards, to create soothing, improvisational, cloudlike musical abstractions that often convey the tranquil randomness of wind chimes in a soft breeze. The liner notes also promise your subconscious will be exposed to a series of subliminal, sleep-encouraging affirmations along the quiet, unstructured way. This may sound like so much frou-frou to the unconverted, but for anyone sincerely interested in a sleep aid, Halpern's disc is a certified snoozer, a New Age music box. Other New Age discs may accomplish the same purpose as

great for people who have problems going sleeping.

This CD is recommended for people who have problems getting to sleep. Now you can go to sleep freely without the use of drugs or sigarites! The track listings on the sampler is the old one. here is the new one.

Musical Lunesta!

I'm assuming that, if you're reading this, your goal is a really good night's sleep, and not unearthing a musical masterpiece. This CD has that classic new age/soothing/synthesized/touchy/feeling quality to it -- but I have to admit, it really does possess some magical "lulling" effect on the mind. It seems to almost interfere with the busy brain talk that keeps one awake and staring up at the ceiling. Perhaps that's why some reviewers got irritated with it, because it does seem to coax the busy little brain to sleep, and if your mind fights it, it would be annoying. But I found it very soothing. I only made it to the end of the CD once and I was mostly "out" by then. I figure it beats taking some prescription drug to mechanically knock the brain out. So if you're not sure, give it a try- if it doesn't put you right to sleep, on a minimum you'll feel very relaxed.

A 50-Year Chronic Insomniac Finds Relief At Last!

Now, this is the kind of review I really hate to write - as a matter of public record. But for the sake of others out there who need help functioning during the day because of this absolute "plague," one has to take the risk. Suffice it to say that after my younger sister passed away unexpectedly (& within 24 hours in 1956) when I was 7 years old, I could not sleep. And it's gone on for 50 years...right 5 decades for goodness sake! So on a wing and a prayer (not that I haven't tried the latter before along with all the usual "therapies" for such a condition), I spotted Amazon.com's review of this CD. Granted I was skeptical; yet the results have been nothing less than astonishing. I don't have a clue as to why or how Steven Halpern does it - all I know - is that this truly works. I would suggest that you do your regular night-time routine of whatever relaxation mode you prefer, and allow yourself the time to 'breathe in' the CD. It took the entire CD to do it for me but that's not saying much insofar as the miraculous result. In closing, I wish some wealthy person or entity out there would give this CD out anywhere or everywhere folks are in dire need. And nothing could be a more charitable and generous gift especially at this time of year. God Bless.
