Audio CD Description

This 1965 album is where vocalist and harmonica player Junior Wells comes into his own. An early collaboration with Buddy Guy, the two of them sum up the 1960s funk-rock-blues that lay ahead.

Comments From Our Customers

This Top Tier Chicago Blues Album is Better than great!

If you are a fan of 60s Chicago blues, then you know already that Hoodoo Man Blues securely occupies a place in the canon of Chicago Blues recordings. Hot, direct, and impossible to dismiss, it set a standard that few recordings of any genre can meet. If you are beginning to explore the blues, this CD is an excellent place to start.

Best Chicago blues album i've heard

I am usually not a huge of the Chicago Blues style. I've always enjoyed the soul behind the Delta blues, but this album is an exception. This is one of my favorite blues albums, the vocals are great and the quality is incredible. Buddy Guy's guitar work is incredible, but so is Junior Wells' harmonica. I mean, wow, this guy can really blow the harp. The way that Guy and Wells play off each other is phenomenal, top say the least. This album also has a great blend of fast and slow songs, which is a huge plus for me. My favorite track is "In the wee hours".

the blues alright

One of the classic Blues albums of all time. Junior Wells and Buddy Guy really captured the sound of Chicago Blues in this recording. As many have mentioned here already, this really is a gem of an album. I'm not usually one to take any credence from numerated reviews and the like, but I am comfortably assured that this album can get nothing but five as has been testified from the fellow reviews--quality music.
