Wonderful!

My family and I love this CD! It is kind of a mix of Latin, Classic, and Retro. It has a flavor all its own and new creations, but mixed with classics like Que Sera Sera and Bolero. The renditions of the older works are very much a tribute to the original composers and performers.

Must be "seen" to be believed

There is one word for this CD, "Magic." And, that is not taking the word lightly or using it hyperbolically. It is tried and true magic that you can experience for yourself. The next time you have a gathering of people and the atmosphere grows rather staid, put in Pink Martini's "Sympathique" and watch how quickly everything picks up. Serious expressions will turn to smiles, inhibitions will ease, conversations will perk up, and a general feeling of well-being will blanket the guests. It doesn't just happen the first time your guests hear it, the magic works on those that are familiar with the unique sound contained therein as well.

My Soundtrack

If this were a movie soundtrack I'd want it to be the movie about me. Each piece in the collection takes me on a different journey. This does remind me of an old movie soundtrack. It's a bit quirky in that one isn't quite able to figure out just when the movie would have been made. There's such variety in the specifics of the pieces, but the quality is steady and true throughout. The songs in different languages, languages which I don't understand, does not detract from my enjoyment of listening to this wonderful CD. The vocals are sung with lovely voice; the band is marvelously full and rich. Sympathique is my introduction to Pink Martini; its excellence assures that I will be pursuing more of their music.
