Wee Small Hours
These classic Sinatra recordings were partly responsible for Sinatra's "comeback" after his stint with Columbia. The recordings are the definitive Sinatra styling with Nelson Riddle arrangements. The quality of this CD is top rate and should be included in any Sinatra collection.
perfection
I'm not a kid,Sinatra was 39 like me when he recorded this jewell and let me tell you something:If there is an album in popular music near to perfection this is the 1955 "In the wee Small Hours of the Morning",for many years I believed that the first concept album was the Beatles' Sgt Pepper as many people say but THIS is not only the first but one of the best recordings in the history of recorded music,Sinatra and Nelson Riddle made a masterpiece that remains incredibly great. When I listened to this cd for the first time it wasn't easy as I was becoming a Sinatra fan and the swing albums were more "easy" to my ear but as I kept listening I realized that one song after another were like Wow!!! another thrilling experience in each tune, performed like NO ONE could or can do it again,if I could give 10 stars to this beautiful collection I would do it,and remember that this is the favourite Sinatra album as well,so if the Voice said something like that, everything is said.I can imagine Duke Ellington truly pleased with Frank's rendition of the classic "Mood Indigo" or the amazing performance of "In the wee Small Hours..." or Miles Davis emotion listening to "It never Entered my Mind" which he transformed in 1956's "Working with the Miles Davis Quintet" in another masterpiece after Frank's version was available. This is a historic session and an absolute must have if you simply love MUSIC.
When Your Lover Has Gone...
If you feel sad and lonely you're not the only one. Sinatra is too..on this wonderful album. It was a time of his life when he broke up with Ava Gardner (the only woman he ever truely loved).
