Audio CD Description

For one brief, shining moment, there was a place known as Camelot--and this 1961 recording is the only document available of JFK's favorite musical, the one that's been used to describe his presidential administration ever since. Truthfully, Lerner and Loewe's musical score for this retelling of the King Arthur story doesn't measure up to

Camelot 1960 OBC - Subperb Performance

If you are like I and have not heard the original Broadway cast version since it was out on vinyl in the 60's you are in for a treat. The digital version brings out sound qualities I never knew existed. Listening to a young Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet with the unmistakeable voice of the great Richard Burton sing on this CD is like stepping back in time 45 years. You close your eyes and you can see the actors performing. You glance into the audiance and see young President John Kennedy alongside the ravishing Jaquelyn Kennedy. It's well worth purchasing.

What was and never can be again

As we all know, this recording dates from the vinyl era. Everything had to fit on a 33 1/3 rpm vinyl record. That meant about 45 minutes of music. Period.

Camelot Original Broadway Cast

I can still remember my Mother playing this album when I was 10 years old and dancing with me. The music is absolutely magical and Julie Andrews and Richard Burton are superb in this original Broadway Cast. A must for broadway musical lovers.
