Stevies Final album
In Step proved to be SRV's final album. He was in top form and saved his best for last.
S.R.V. and Double Trouble's best album, period!
Personally, this album is SRV and Double Trouble's best work yet. Yes, we all know what some of the songs are about. His addictions and his life stories are poured into most of the songs and one thing is for sure, his heart and soul are in every song! "Crossfire" is absolutely addicting with it's brilliant guitar solo. "Riviera Paradise" is mesmerizing in it's artistic beauty. "The House is Rockin'" is an instant shot in the nuts. In Step is an album of progression and musicianship. It may not all be blues, but it is some great music by great artists. That should not be forgotten. God bless you Stevie! I certainly hope that heaven is enjoying one kick ass concert by you, Jimi and the boys!
Stevie Ray Vaughan goes "pop"!
Stevie Ray Vaughan's fourth album sees him emerging healthy, happy and cleaned up of the worst drug and booze fuelled excesses of his rock 'n' roll adolescence. Of course, there are good things and bad things, from a rock icon's perspective (and his fans'), about growing up. In Step is the record of a man getting comfortable with himself and his achievements, with all the positive and negative connotations that brings.
