WARNING: Listen to this in one sitting and you will absolutely fall in love with this musical. I've never seen the show in person but I feel as if I have after listening to this. An added bonus is the complete script included with the CD that allows someone who's never seen it in person to get a feel for the show.
Take out Michael Crawford, and this is great There are a few problems with this recording. Yes, loads of people are going to champion it because it's the OLC, but it's just not outstanding.
The Music of the Night The music is phenominal overall, but particularly in Act 1. The digital re-mastering is unbelievable; you feel as though you are actually at the opera! The vocalists are superb; their singing quality far surpassing the voices in the movie version of the Phantom. Michael Crawford and Sara Brightman have definately immortalized the roles. I would highly recommend this to opera lovers and non-opera lovers alike. My favorite feature was the libretto that was included. It is wonderful to be able to follow along and learn the words to your favorite songs. If you love the show, you will love this CD! |
