Comments From Our Customers

Good starter set for jazz beginners

This is a beautifully packaged 5 disc set highlighting some of the greatest jazz artists of all time. If you buy this set and are really excited about the sound and the masterful artists presented then, I highly recommend collecting the 22 discs of individual artists by Burns which showcase the popular and influential music of those artists. Having all of the Ken Burns Jazz editions is of course just a start but a good start into the world of jazz it will be.

good as a starting point as any

If you obtained this set, miles davis' kind of blue, and "the verve story 1944-1994" you have the makings of a good starting point of a jazz collection.

A Good Variety

I had to purchase this collection for a college class, however I still listen to the first three discs a lot. Ken Burns included a nice selection of jazz artists that will appeal to many people's tastes in jazz music. And for the beginner, its a good exposure to determine what you will and won't like.
