WOW
When one thinks of Clapton, they must try to remember him fondly. I'll be the first to admit that I'd rather shoot myself or eat my own arm than listen to one of his new albums; but this album is truly amazing. The vocals of Mayall are truly exceptional as always. The band is great, but what really stands out is Clapton; he plays like a man on fire. The guitar playing is so passionate, so sublime; Clapton plays on a different level on this album, a level that would he would only surpass on the untouchable Layla album. Every track is great and the overall feel of the album is well-established. Truly a great blues album that I would reccomend to anyone, even people that shy away from the now artistically dead Clapton.
"Never knew what I was missing..."
As every rock fan worth his or her salt knows, Eric Clapton was in his prime during the 1960's. Be it with the Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers, Cream or Blind Faith, it seemed like El Clapitan couldn't fail. And in this case, working with Mayall for an all-too-short one album colaboration, he didn't. And though there are some lesser throwaways (those instrumentals near the end, with the exception of Steppin' Out, qualify there), this disc is packed with brilliant material. Be it All Your Love, Hideaway, Double Crossing Time, What I Say, Parchman Farm, Ramblin' on My Mind or Steppin' Out, Bluesbreakers with Clapton never fails to deliver. And though it isn't the most creative album ever made, if you're into the blues (and what Clapton fan isn't?), you should take a look at this.
A must for blues freaks
Anyone who loves still the blues and wants to either listen or play the blues must hear this CD. Eric at his early days with the dirty
