A wonderful combination for Tom and Johnny fans

My roommate actually summed up this album the best. "It's like having another Tom Petty album, except Johnny &(^$% Cash is singing lead." Which is to say that it is truly an amazing combination of these two artists strengths, resulting some mind-blowing songs. This was actually the album that first got me into Johnny Cash and I have slowly built my collection since then. From the first hearing of Rusty Cage to the last listening of Souther Accents, you will be thoroughly satisfied with every song on this album.Unfortunately, it's hard to describe what makes this album truly great beyond the unbelievable power of Johnny Cash's music in his later years. This should be a definite buy for anyone who shows even the most remote interest in Johnny Cash or Tom Petty and you will not be disappointed.

Awesome follow-up to an Awesome new beginning.

This release is more varied thanks to the backing band assembled by Rubin. The song choice is still amazing.

Wow!!!

Unbelievable. I've been listening to JR for 30++ years. I got the first American Recordings cd about a month ago, and thought it was the best. That was before i got this one. With this one, i got my rock-a-billy back. It seems like JR's vitality came back after the success of the first one. I especially like "Country Boy" and "Mean-eyed Cat". Highly recommend this one to one and all.
