ok
For some reason (maybe the constant airplay of the song "Clocks" and more ) I was put off buying this cd. I hate actually commercial bands in principle , but of course the music should speak for itself Now that I finally bought it, I instantly loved almost the entire thing. It is very flowing and there are many hooks in the songs that I anticipate more and more with each listen. They still sound a bit like a weaker U2 to me , but that's ok
Very good, but lacking the freshness of PARACHUTES
Coldplay's debut album, PARACHUTES, was a smash hit, immediately earning the band a legion of dedicated fans. Those fans eagerly awaited the group's next release, and when it came in the form of 2002's A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD, those fans rejoiced. A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD has the same sort of heartfelt, dreamy alt. rock that made PARACHUTES so great, yet listening to RUSH OF BLOOD isn't as satisfying as listening to the band's debut. The material just doesn't feel as fresh here as it did on that album. Nevertheless, RUSH OF BLOOD is a very good release, filled with a number of terrific tunes that rank amongst the band's finer compositions. This album's singles, the open-hearted "In My Place", the high-spirited "Clocks", and the occasionally remorseful "The Scientist", are all great, but they aren't the only great songs here. There's also the excellent title track, the abnormally somber "A Whisper", and the wonderfully free-spirited "God Put a Smile on Your Face". Chris Martin's vocals are still as moving as ever; when combined with Jon Buckland's potent guitar, Will Champion's sometimes heavy, sometimes light drumming, and Guy Berryman's underlying bass, they create a force to be reckoned with. While not quite as good as PARACHUTES, A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD proves that Coldplay will be around for a while.
I Wish I Would've Bought This Long Ago!!!
