Audio CD Description

From the reggae-tinged title track to the light blues of "Drive My Car" to the irresistible tease of "I'm Gonna Catch You" and at all stops in between, the 20 tracks on Laurie Berkner's fourth record for kids dance off the disc and into the imagination, with a Goldilocks just-right ratio of silly ("Do the Dragon") and serious ("I'm Me and You're You"). Driving home her reputation as an Ani DiFranco for kids is the earthy "Running Down the Hill." "Shortnin' Bread," the Southern traditional, will compel kids to tie on aprons and tap their way across the kitchen floor. The Hawaiian thank-you number "Mahalo" and the Eastern "Boody Boody Ya Ya Ya" draw upon world music, but otherwise, Berkner's days of shaking her noodle head (a favorite dance ditty off an earlier disc) to the delight of 2-year-olds seem numbered. That's not to say

Comments From Our Customers

Very catchy CD! We love it!

We recently got this CD, and love it! My daughter is 5 and loves listening to the songs and singing them to me later. I don't mind listening to them in the car because they are very catchy, and the worst part is that I'm singing them later because they're stuck in my head. We also own the Victor Vito CD, but we like this one best.

Boring!

I'm sorry! I would love to leave a glowing review about this cd but I just can't! As a new fan of Laurie and friends, I just purchased her DVD and loved every song on it! Since the music cd that came with it only has a few songs on it, I thought I'd purchase this one (based upon 5 star reviews) and was sorely disappointed! No where on this cd is the energy and upbeat tempo that comes with her newer songs. It's more, slow, hippie, folks-y kinda music that my daughter couldn't even dance to! Granted, "I'm gonna catch you" is on it as well as "Song on my Tummy" and "Who's That" which are upbeat, happy songs, but I really find that most of these songs are played on the "Low chord" side which to me is kinda dark (Do the Dragon) for example. Not at all a favorite of mine and I will be taking it back. My advice to you is to listen to the clips provided on this site before you purchase. You may like them! Other than the three I listed, I don't.

For kids and their parents too

My two year old daughter adores Laurie Berkner, she stomps her feet, waves her arms in the air and dances around. What makes it even better is that it's real music, unlike some kid's stuff that sounds more like the stuff that the Communist party makes little Chinese kids sing in school. I can't say Laurie rocks, so to speak, but she sure grooves.
