Perfection

One of the finest albums of all time. I patiently await the release of their next album next year.

Immense, dazzling, phosphorescent music.

It is hard to describe the music of Explosions in the Sky without waxing poetic. No simple sentence can describe the music here - it shimmers and gleams and dances beautifully and it in and of itself is a kind of poetry borne of duel meloncholy guitars and steady, forceful drums. For any guitar rock enthusiast - and I'm talking to you Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor fans - this is a must. Listening to Explosions in the Sky is a religious experience, invariably. Just listen to Your Hand in Mine and try not to feel the glory.

Sincerely In Love

This is what happens when you are able to express appreciation for beauty, love, and nature without corrupting it with your own ego..Lacking the immediacy and rawness of it's predecessor, but none of the sublte and not so sublte gorgeousness, Explosions returns with a softer, more meditative release..All the ingrediants that make this band brilliant are in place, and at the forefront is the amazing ear for seeminlgy simple, yet subtley complex heartbreaking and mending interplaying melodies. This is never more apparent then on the song "Six days at the bottom of the ocean" a song that will perhaps haunt me to my grave with it's painfully intense choice of notes..They must be doing their job, since the song was in fact inspired by the slow deaths of sinking submarine men, but it is so profound in itself, the content would not even effect my perceptions of the piece..I cannot fathom how I can play this song for someone and see them just nod there head and say it's good, emotionally uninvolved. I want to live in a world where we can all embrace to the joy that is our lives and this vibration of music, a Not cold or dead place...
