Re: Missing Songs that you gotta have!
I loved the songs from the movie SO much that I purchased the soundtrack...oh dear.
I have looked through all the comments and a big Bravo goes out to Webguddess, April 10 who has provided a list of the missing, very much desired songs.
But she forgot one- No Doubt, Underneath It All. In case you can't find her comment here they are again, apart from that i do like the covered 80's songs on the CD:
1.Wouldn't it be nice by The Beach Boys
2.Another Day by Wings aka Paul McCartney
3.Amber by 311
4.Baby by Wyclef (during makeout in the office)
5.Blinded By The Light by Manfred Mann(first look at Lucy)
6.Do You Realize by Flaming Lips(Lucy's Car accident)
7.Could You Be Loved by Bob Marley
8.Hey Ya by Outkast
9.Somewhere over The Rainbow by IZ (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole)
10.Underneath It All by No Doubt
Happy downloading!
Dave is a dope!!!!
Don't listen to this guy dave!! What kind of covers did he expect the movie takes place in a tropical setting (HAWAII)!! The soundtrack is a great listening soundtrack. If you are looking for hard rock or punk you wont find it hear but if you want a cd full of songs you can chill out to this is it. Oh yeah Dave get your facts straight Jason Mraz (not Marz as you spelled it) coved "I Melt With You" not "Hold Me Now" which Wayne Wonder does a kick ass cover of. This song was produced by Tony Kanal of No Doubt. He produced two other songs "Slave To Love" by Elan with Gwen Stefani on the hooks & "Ghost In You" by Mark Mcgrath. Ziggy Marley did a kick ass job covering "Drive." Nick Hexum of 311 not only did "Love Song" with his band 311 that is currently getting a lot of Love on KROQ in LA, but he also produced several tracks such as "Lips like Sugar" by Seal, "Friday Im In Love" by Dryden Mitchell of Alien Ant Farm and "I Melt With You" by Jason Mraz. Wyclef and Eve do a fricken dope cover of the Outfield song "Your Love" Clef really flips this song clearly making it his own. I'm not to sure about "True" by Will.I.Am and Fergie it seems a little too hip-hop for this album so it kind of stands out but its still a nice song!!
If you want IZ buy Meet Joe Black or Finding Forrester
As far as cover version compilations go this is a VERY good example. Not only do all the songs on the album fit together by the movie but all the originals fit in the same category. The only song that's 'out of place' is "Forgetful Lucy" but that's what makes this album the 50 First Dates Soundtrack and not a collection of re-done 80's love songs.
Many other reviewers seem disappointed that IZ's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/Wonderful World" isn't present on the soundtrack, but there is a reason for this! This is the third movie I know fo to feature the same song. They didn't put this one on there because it's probably already on the soundtracks to Meet Joe Black as well as Finding Forrester.
