Magic!
Once again the amazing Jon Brion leaves us with no suprises with his absolutely mesmerizing abilities to write and create beautiful - not only music - but dream-like and visual scores!
The cameos in the soundtrack are nothing short from perfect -- except some may say The Willows song "Something" does not compliment the film but it DOES fit the film just not something that really compliments the soundtrack in the whole. Other than that the track by Beck, "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes", and "Light and Day" by The Polyphonic Spree are top-notch.
Jon Brion and his contribution to the film, I believe, made the film much better than it would be WITHOUT it. The tracks "Elephant March", "Phone Call", and "Peer Pressure" sparked tears in my heart during the film and almost do the same if you hadn't seen it yet.
Cheers to Mr. Brion and his continuous success!
You can't forget this soundtrack
Its not often that an hour after a movie, I'm staring at the soundtrack to that movie contemplating purchasing it. "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", one of my new favorite movies, had me doing just that. The opening theme left me haunted, and very introspective, and I wanted to retain that. What I discovered was not only that song, but moany others to delight my ear!
Some of my favorite tracks on this CD include the ever-catchy E.L.O.'s version of Mr. Blue Sky that is very retro yet sounds like it was written yesterday. The Polyphonic Spree's incredibly uplifting tune "Light and Day" is great to play with your windows open on a summer day. Also, a new tune that haunts me is Beck's version of "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime".
If you can't wait for the DVD of this phenom movie to come out, buy the soundtrack and it will buy you time until that happens!
I Love it
Jon Brion makes me re-think everything that went on in the beautiful movie. Especially "Theme", and Row." They remind me of the movie, and since the movie is so great, this soundtrack makes me feel good.
