Three Dog Night - 'The Complete Hit Singles' (UTV Records)
Total of 21 tracks,of Three Dog Night's most beloved radio-friendly tunes. As for myself,I remember most,if not all these early to mid '70's keepsakes.Like "One" ,it's flipside (unless I miss my guess) "Try A little Tenderness","Eli's Coming","Celebrate", their possible anthem(?)"Joy To The World","Liar","Old Fashioned Love Song","Shambala" and the rest.Memorable seventies top 40 rock.A should-have.
So many hits on one cd
It is so easy to forget how many hits this band has had, until you sit down and listen to this CD. This is one of the better "best of" cd compilations that I have purchased. I even bought one for my dad (who listened to 3 Dog Night all the time, when I was a kid), and he absolutely loves it also.
ON THE ROAD TO SHAMBALA...
How does your light shine (Shambala is something like a location and state of consciousness where the planetary spiritual governing forces sit and help along evolution in accord with the will of God - whew, heavy concept)? When I was a young music lover, in the 60's & 70's, I would listen to radio (AM & FM) many hours a day(night) usually. So many bands from that great era have had a big impact on me and I would always listen intently when my favorite songs came on (and dream of being a musician someday - which I am fortunately, though not professionally). STILL DO...but these days I am lucky enough to have many recordings to listen to at will and absorb the magic. This compilation is a key piece of the radio magic from then as it seems to have all of the hits I remember and love as well as a few other (gold hit) gems I don't remember as well but now love to listen to. Three Dog Night are unbelievable and inspired hit makers! These songs are so full of energy and genius generally (or just plain beautiful), I can only say CRANK IT UP AND ENJOY! You will love this release if you are a fan or have a soft spot for the era - it will take you places. If you don't know this band and enjoy bands like Crosby, Stills & Nash, Steppenwolf, Chicago, The Guess Who & The Beatles, this won't be much of a stretch. These songs will stick to your brain like grill marks on barbecued meat. One (a great song) may be the loneliest number, but with 20 great songs after it, you will be in fine company! The Mono does sound cool by the way, very tight vibrations. Excellent track notes, essay, pictures, etc. 74:32 minutes of radio gold. Song 20 says it all: Play Something Sweet, play something mellow, play something I can sink my teeth into like jello...play something sweet, but make it funky, just let me lay back and grin like a monkey! Charming songs here...You will probably be surprised how many you know and love. Skip a few mochas if you have to, this IS a joy (to the world...all the boys and girls...to you and me)!
