| Audio CD Description Some singer/songwriters (think Paul Westerberg and Elliott Smith) develop their world-weariness through the unforgiving trials of passing years and the heart-breaking grind of the music business. Others (Van Morrison, Neil Young) seem to have sprung from out of nowhere with the fully formed soul of a life well-lived. Ray LaMontagne belongs with the latter. On this, his debut, LaMontagne has crafted a handful of quietly devastating meditations on life and love--and delivered them with a raspy vocal all his own. The simple, mournful lyrics of "Burn," "Shelter" and the title track recall a Hank Williams ballad, and the reserved production by alt-country/americana genius Ethan Johns (the Jayhawks, Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon) make this a great disc for smoky Saturday nights, and rainy Sunday mornings. |

Amazing Artist Ray Lamontagne is an amazing artist. This album is wonderful. I really like every single song. The best way I can describe the genre is southern soul. It has an old classic feel to it. I highly recommend this to everyone. Also, the price on it is great. I bought it here on amazon for $8.97. It's a great buy.
New ideas and fresh sounds I've never met Ray LaMontagne but I feel protective of him, as if he is my way-too-sensitive kid brother. He effectively expresses all of the hurt emotions and a lot off the joyful emotions too.
Simply Amazing I started listening to Ray a few weeks ago...this music is amazing. Ray has a very soothing voice and his songs are so heartfelt and meaningful that go through every emotion he does. I bought this CD 2 weeks ago and it hasn't left my CD player yet. The title track, Trouble, is one of the best songs on the disc. Each song has its own unique flavor and all I can say is: GO BUY THIS CD!!!!!!!! |
