What can I say about Kelly Clarkson? First of all, she was the first ever American Idol winner. Her sophomore album Breakaway is awesome! Each song is a hit. I can't say enough good things about this cd! There are some excellent ballads (slow songs) that show Kelly's range. And then there are songs like Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes that shows her rock side! I recommend this cd to any Kelly Clarkson non-fan. That's right, non-fan! This cd isn't like anything I've heard. It doesn't compare to any other singer!

Good, But Not Effortless

I bought this album based on the strength and catchiness of the debut single "Breakaway." After hearing it numerous times on the radio, I couldn't get it out of my head. I was very pleased to see "Since U Been Gone," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," and especially "Because Of You" go on to do very well on the charts and get heavy rotation on the radio. "Breakaway" is a good album and shines through smart production and solid songwriting (Kelly wrote/co-wrote six of the album's twelve songs). Obviously Kelly has worked very hard to achieve her current success and has a clearly defined point of view about her career direction.

Fairly good, more like 3 1/2

I have always liked Kelly but I would never expect her make music without having the "American Idol" label on it. I would expect her to make some poppy music. I was wrong. Almost all of her songs have a rock edge to it and it suprisingly fits with her voice. The best songs in my opinion is:
