Audio Valium To be fair, I got this late in the day on a rainy gray Seattle afternoon when I was already tired. I slipped it into my car CD player and almost immediately felt my eyes starting to close.
Hauntingly beautiful I bought this cd on a whim, having heard only one track played on the radio. I wasn't disappointed. This a wonderfully mellow compilation. I gave 4 instead of 5 stars simply because for me it is a cd you kind of have to be in the mood for, a sort of rainy day soundtrack.
A Moody Romantic Must-Buy If you love Radiohead, David Gray, and Coldplay you will fall in love with Aqualung. This guy has better lyrics than Coldplay with vocals much like Radiohead. The piano work is like Gray, beautiful and soft. The best songs would be tracks 1 (Strange and Beautiful) and 3 (Good Times Gonna Come). At first I thought Good Times was not good, but once you actually listen to the lyrics, it is a somber yet optomistic song that builds itself to a climactic vocal melody at the end. That is my favorite song from the cd. Strange and Beautiful comes in close because it started out as my favorite. Just as the title, it is beautiful and romantic and the lyrics are amazing. Just find the lyrics and read them without music and you'll be in awe of Matt's writing prowess. Track 8 is also very good, but what am I doing choosing favorites? They are all very good songs, there is not one song I would choose to skip on my cd player.
