I'll take it!
Alice In Chains - Dirt. Live - Throwing Copper. Pearl Jam - Ten. Tool - AEnima. What do all of these have in common? A few things. Naturally, all of them were written and created by bands peerless in their timelessness and talent, but the one amazingly cool and unfortunately sad link between all of them is that they are albums which were so great in their creation, the rest of the bands career would be held in the eyes of many to be nothing more than a comparison than their great master work, every other album which will probably never measure up to it in all its glory. Thankfully Porcupine Tree have, and hopefully always will, crank out the high quality music that they are known for, indescribably tasteful pop songs set against atmospheric psychedelia and dark, brooding edginess. But chances are they will never do it quite like they did on 2002's In Absentia, the prequel to Deadwing. And thats okay. I'll be satisfied listening to In Absentia on a more than likely daily basis for the rest of my life and probably never get bored of it. But Deadwing is a damn fine attempt at a follow-up.
An awsome prog metal masterpice!
I purchased Deadwing along with In Absentia a few months ago and I was truly impressed! In some songs, the verses will sound like Floyd and the chorus will be head-banging metal! Now that's what I call good music. Some of the best tracks on here include: Deadwing, Halo, Ariving Somewhere (but not here), and the bonus track (Shesmovedon). Hope this review helped!
WOW
This is a tuely amazing album. This band is everybit as good as ELP or Pink floyd at their best. This is how Rush meets Genesis might have sounded. But to be fair to PT they have their own unique sound and its huge welcome to folk-metal!!! God Bless
