Why don't alvin and the chipmunks rap?

When I heard this album I posed this question upon myself. If alvin and the chipmunks rapped they would be just as good as these clowns. The peas can definitely dance and they have some beats, but rhyming is not their game. They should just be some hype dancers for beyonce or back up for missy's wack a$$.

Just the Total Package

For those who criticize Black Eyed Peas' style, remember that they come from the underground and they success keeping some of their undergorund roots. Maybe that's why you hate the way the "rap". But if you had paid more attention on their music and style, you'd have knwon that they moslty consider themselves as funk performers, not "rappers". You criticize them because they want to make it easy and positive. I may ask you why you want hip hop music to be complicated. It's like hip hop should just be about rapping, spitting complex verbs and tricky words with a high rate of agressivity and overestimation according to you... And it's you who dare to say that black eyed peas don't fit in a given category when you can't even separate hip hop in totally different categories ? The true impotent or ignorant people are those who judge without even knowing the basis of their judgements. Their hip hop style is closer to the original hip hop style, the one it had before it got commercial. You can't pretend to judge them in an artistic point of view, when your bases are the commercial stereotypes...

You're all correct---it's brilliant AND it's awful

I notice from the reviews I see here that this is a pretty polarizing album. Some hate it because it's vapid, others love it because the beats are out-of-control awesome. No one is wrong.
