Boring Operettic Sondheim wannabe Garbage

And NO I do not agree that the lead female singer was brilliant. She has the same naisely "Disney Mermaid" qualities as everyone else of this generation. Not that I'm expecting Merman, but I grow so weary of witless lyrics and music, and singers who think "Linda Ronstant sings Gershwin" is a golden oldie.

What More Could You Ask For?

It is very rare that a peace of musical theatre emerges from an unwelcoming group of uninteresting and mediocre "money musicals". But this amazing musical is just that. At first, (admittedly) I was disgusted with this music. I found it extremely boring and repetitive, and found myself only listen to the second track "Statues and Stories". I loved the idea. I thought a new classical musical with many older influences sounded fresh and interesting. But when I first listened, I was disappointed. I know now why. I was confused. You have to learn this music and understand it to enjoy it. This is not simple stuff.

Gorgeous piece of Musical Theatre

I saw the show in March. This show is the most gorgeous, well-written piece of Musical Theatre that I have seen in a very long time. That's nothing against the other shows I've seen, of course. This show is absolutely transcending! Adam Guettel has written a true masterpiece. The influence of Stephen Sondheim (his mentor) and Richard Rodgers (his grandfather) are quite evident and are well blended in to Guettel's great style. I highly recommend the show and the CD!
