Audio CD Description

On its seventh album--and first without founding member Brian "Head" Welch--Korn makes a few changes and gets on with proving that it's still a viable force within the world of heavy rock. The venerable veterans lean on outside help from the songwriting team of the Matrix and producer Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails). The end result is that this is a big change for Korn and one that will garner large shares of message board controversy on wether this album is more industrial than nü. The band is at its deftest on "Getting Off," "Politics" and "Coming Undone," which highlight the industrial bend. Stalwart fans need not worry for "Liar" and "For No One" remain in lock-step with classic Korn. One need not listen to the full hour-plus to discover flaws. Its center becomes weighed down with bland mid-tempo numbers and the final song detracts from the powerhouse close the record might have had they ended with "Interlude #3/I've Seen It All." Still, Korn has demonstrated that it's capable of weathering the storm and emerging with an album that will carry them onward.

Comments From Our Customers

7/10 - Interesting, But Not Their Best

It's been about 5 months since "See You On The Other Side" was released. I picked it up on release day, but I've waited a while to let the album sink in and grow on me, as it has to do. Certain Korn CDs like "Issues" and "Take A Look In The Mirror" had everything I wanted in a Korn album, and I loved them instantly. But with albums like "Untouchables" and this one, I'd listen to it the first couple of times and say, "Huh?" Although "Untouchables" was odd to me at first, once I became familiar with the songs I grew to love the album. I figured that would be the case with this album as well, and it was.

When will these guys just retire?!

To be perfectly honest, when I first heard this album, I laughed at how pathetic it was. When will these farts just give it up and move on with their lives? They already lost Hed (Praise Jesus, best decision he ever made). Now, they are still trying to write music, and they are trying way too hard. Seriously, when Korn first came out, their debut wasn't too bad. It actually had a couple of good songs on it. When Issues came out, it was the beginning of the end. Every album since then has been terrible. I laughed like a demon from hell when I heard Twisted Transistor because it was so cheesy. It used to be cool to listen to Korn becuase "they were just so hard". Well, "light-bulb", there are bands now that are much heavier and much better now. The only people who still listen to Korn are posers and wiggers; bottom line. So, for all of you little poser goth, hardcore or punk kids who say you still listen to Korn...You're not impressing anyone! Korn sold out! They are posers and wannabes! Long Live Tool!

. . . this is my review

I guess when I first got this cd, I was not very impressed. It is just hard to get into. I am really used to all their old music, and this new album is much different. Before I thought it was different in a bad way, but then I saw them live. Their new show was amazing. It reminded me of Slipknot, because there were a lot of people on stage wearing masks. Behind the band was some kind of stage with four guys on it wearing animal masks. There was a guitarist, a keyboardist, percussionist, and some other guy. Anyway, the show was incredible, and not even having seat tickets could keep me from the pits. Me and my friend helped start a mosh pit up in the seats. They played so many songs during the show, a lot of them I have never heard live from them before, like Dirty. There was also a long guitar solo by Munky, a damn good one. After that show, I found new respect for the new album. I just know now that with or without Head, nothing can keep KoRn from kicking ass. Now for the actual review of the cd . . .
