An Artist Who Is True To His Style Of Music!!!
Having been a Steely Dan fan for a few decades now...I am always interested in what they are up to. I have owned the first two solo efforts from Mr. Fagen for many years. It's not my purpose to address them here. Morph The Cat is an interesting CD and in my opinion is a lot better than the last one he put out on his own. The arrangements, production, instruments, and writing are all outstanding. The title cut is a bit morbid and not a standout on this one. The songs H Gang and What I do... are getting quite a bit of airplay in this neck of the woods. Both are very good songs! Brite Nitegown is a bit weird, but okay. The jazzy song... The Great Pagoda of Funn is another good song. Security Joan is obviously a song inspired by Homeland Security..very timely! The Night Belongs To Mona...this song has shades of Peg, from the Aja CD. Mary Shut The Garden Door...is an okay song. This is a good CD overall from an artist who is true to his style of music!!! Thanks Donald for all the great years of music that you have given to us all. Hopefully, their is much more to come!
Donald Fagen -- One in a billion!
The world is a much better place because of Donald Fagan... The voice... The funk... The lyrics... The mind... I welcome a new project from Donald Fagen (or Steely Dan for that matter) like a letter from an old friend that isn't always in communication, but when they are, it's moving. MORPH THE CAT is in power rotation on my iPod!
