A New Side of Jewel and an Old One
Jewel's new album take her back to a sound that is somewhere between her debut "Pieces of You" and "This Way." This more accoustic Folk-Pop-Rock sound is a good one to highlight the beauty of her voice. There are a few more slicked up single songs, however, she never lets her voice get chopped into the same slick loops that accompany it. As a writer, this album shows a bit more wear and tear, however, that is probably to be expected as this album ballances her old material with a new direction. Remember how Allison Moorer had the akwardly uneven Miss Fortune before moving on to the masterpiece that was The Duel. Well, Goodbye isn't nearly as bad as Miss Fortune, however, it does leave one feeling like it will suffer in comparison to the next album. And that's okay. Sometimes when an artist is mastering the difficult task of turning her critical eye inward, it takes an album or two to get it right. And, with that in mind, Goodbye Alice In Wonderland is still a pretty good album.
"Goodbye Alice In Wonderland" the highlight of Jewel's music career.
I am very impressed with this soothing and melodic album by country artist Jewel. I've always been impressed with her style, but this album is miles superior to 0304
Say I'm like the desert...just way hotter.
This album is everything I hoped it would be. There's humor, love, passion, a little folk and a little rock and roll. She says the things you could never find the words to say. Definitely a great album to listen to cover to cover.
