Hoot

I am very pleasantly surprised at how much I like this cd. I dont normally even like soundtracks but being a Parrothead, I had to buy it. I love most of the tunes on it and find myself bobbing my head along to "back of the bus". I even like Werewolves of London but I believe it's the first JB remake that I dont like better than the original. All hail Warren Zevon! If you are a PH, I would recommend buying this. It's great summer, backyard bbq, beer drinking music.

A very sunny listen...

for the summer of 2006, courtesy of Jimmy Buffett, the Coral Reefer Band, and some young and old friends. First of all, about half of the CD is made up of Jimmy Buffett tracks (one new composition). "Wondering Where The Lions Are" is a Bruce Cockburn tune that shines under the interpretation by Buffett and the Coral Reefer band, "Barefootin'" is a great duet with Alan Jackson in the spirit of the "License to Chill album", "Floridays" is a cover of...Jimmy Buffett, previously done as an acoustic, wistful tune and now happy, sunny, reggae-filled, and driven by steel drums, and featuring Fingers Taylor on harmonica. "Werewolves of London" is the dud here, and Buffett should never have tried this, as it comes off as bad karaoke.

Bought for the Buffett

As a die-hard Parrothead I bought the Hoot soundtrack just for the Buffett tracks on it. An interesting mix, great to hear him belting out Werewolves of London and the remake of Floridays is worth the CD itself. Other tracks from Jimmy (Good Guys Win, Barefootin' w/Alan Jackson) are OK, but maybe not worth just purchasing the CD for. Other non-Buffett tracks are an interesting mix of various styles, although if you are a Maroon 5 fan their track will lack some for you. Bottom line--if you love Buffett, make the investment, especially for Floridays. If you are a on-again/off-again fan, it may not be worth your $$$.
